Aquaponics System
do i have to cycle Aquaponics system?
If so how, i already have 2 goldfish in the 20 gallon system total. So far i have a maple tree, 2 peppers, 1 cucumber, and a couple tomatoes that im cloning with mint that im cloning
tamatoes in the system with a cloning foam but mint is in a glass of water.
Aquaponic Systems need to be cycled in order for plants to grow sufficiently. With just two fish in 20 gal. you will have difficulty in cycling it. many thoughts are given on how many fish per gallon of water there should be. It is shared that you can have up to 1 pound of fish per gallon. Just remember, fish grow so you need to take this into account. I cycled my units with food grade ammonia and had the bacteria in 3 days. I planted 4 tomatoes, 4 pepper, 2 mint 1 tomitillo plants in a system that had less than 5 sq feet. The growth was impressive and the fish thrived. I used 25 goldfish, 2 pleacos, 2 crayfish.
